In a bid to provide parishioners some access to Mass in the event they are unable to attend, Fr Martin will be live streaming daily masses on the website. Masses will continue to take place at the same time as usual (unless otherwise said). You can watch the live stream on our YouTube channel if the below video isn’t working.
Frequently asked questions regarding our live streams
Q. What time is mass?
A. Mass will be live-streamed at the same time as normal – you can find timings on our mass times page.
Q. Why is the video black / saying “OFFLINE”?
A. The live stream will only be started 5 minutes before mass is about to begin. When Mass is finished, the live stream will close down until the next scheduled Mass.
Q. Why is the live stream buffering (stopping and starting)?
A. Your connection might be struggling to load the live stream. Make sure you’re not using other devices or software that might be downloading large files at the same time (e.g. other live streaming services like Netflix or Now TV on other devices). If you’re struggling, refresh the page by pressing “Ctrl” + “F5” t the same time. If you’re watching the live stream via an app on your TV, you may have better performance by live streaming through a device like an iPad.
Q. Can I watch the live stream on my iPad/iPhone?
A. Yes. Simply download the YouTube app onto your iPad or iPhone. Once installed load the official “YouTube” app and search for our channel – “St Marys & St Albans RC Church Halifax“. Please note that the live stream will not be LIVE until at least 5 minutes before Mass starts. Please sure you’re connected to your Wifi otherwise you may use all your mobile data.
Q. How do I live stream to my TV?
A. If you play the live stream on your iPad or via a laptop (using the Google Chrome browser) and your Smart TV is connected to the same WiFi network, you can click the “Play on TV” button in the bottom right of the video. This will cast the video onto your TV from your iPad/laptop.
Q. Can I watch the live stream directly on my TV?
Alternatively, if you have a Smart TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Virgin Media TiVo box or Sky Q, you may be able to watch the broadcast directly through your television. Please look online how you can install/use the YouTube app. Once installed, load the official “YouTube” app and search for our channel – “St Marys & St Albans RC Church Halifax“. Please note that the live stream will not be LIVE until at least 5 minutes before Mass starts. You are likely to find a better connection via your computer/iPad, however.
Q. Can I watch it on my smartphone?
A. Yes. Anyone with a modern smartphone should be able to view our live stream. Please do make sure though that you connect to your Wi-Fi first of all, as to not potentially use up all of your monthly mobile data allowance.
Q. Can I watch the above video on full screen?
A. Yes. To watch the live video on full screen simply click the full-screen icon in the bottom right of the video.
Q. There’s no sound from the video?
A. Please make sure that your speakers are connected and/or turned up. Every Mass is broadcasted with audio.
Q. How do I get rid of the echo during the Mass?
A. Unfortunately, we’re unable to rectify the audio caused by the acoustics of the church at this moment.
Q. Why isn’t the live stream working for me?
A. If the live stream isn’t working/fails to load, it may be down to your device. If you’re using a particularly old phone or computer, it might not have the latest software to allow you to watch the live stream. We recommend that you load our website using the latest version of Google Chrome. This web browser can be downloaded at https://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/chrome/.
